Overview

Ben Mika, nestled at 32 Blenheim Rd in North Ryde, offers a genuine slice of Turkish hospitality through both its cuisine and atmosphere. This coffee shop and restaurant seamlessly blends traditional flavors with a welcoming vibe, making it a standout destination for those eager to explore authentic Turkish fare in Sydney’s Northern Suburbs.

The heart of Ben Mika’s menu lies in its rich and diverse main dishes. The Ali Nazik stands out as a true signature, drawing praise for its smoky chargrilled eggplant, tender minced lamb, and yogurt base that radiates depth and comfort. It’s a dish that not only satisfies but invites repeat visits. The mix of classics like Manti—Turkish style dumplings often loved by children—and Shish kebabs, both chicken and lamb, showcase the brand’s solid grasp of Turkish culinary traditions, adeptly balancing flavor and presentation.

Breakfast here takes a distinctive turn with items like the Ben Mika Breakfast Feast and Turkish Poached Eggs with Sucuk, adding authentic local touches rarely found in typical cafes. Coffee lovers are well catered for, with a quality selection made from Campos beans including specialties like cappuccino, long black, and iced variations, delivering a strong and smooth brew that complements the meal perfectly.

The dining space exudes warmth and friendliness, echoed by multiple customer experiences highlighting attentive and courteous service. The involvement of Mehmet, the owner and chef, adds a personal dimension to the experience, enhancing the exploration of Turkish cuisine with genuine care and knowledge. Families find it welcoming, with a kids’ menu featuring familiar comforts such as chicken nuggets and fish and chips, ensuring everyone feels included.

Ben Mika targets a broad audience—from coffee aficionados and breakfast seekers to diners eager for authentic Turkish dinners in a relaxed setting. Its ability to introduce lesser-known Turkish dishes like Dolma and Borek alongside crowd-pleasers like Baklava enriches the culinary journey for both newcomers and enthusiasts alike. While there have been minor notes about timing during busy dinners, the consistent quality and atmosphere outweigh small service hiccups.

In essence, Ben Mika is more than just a coffee shop; it is a vibrant cultural spot offering a well-rounded Turkish dining experience. Whether stopping by for a morning coffee, a family-friendly lunch, or a leisurely dinner, guests are invited to savor deep, traditional flavors wrapped in a modern, welcoming setting. We went to Ben Mika for dinner and we were wowed by the quality of the food. Mehmet (owner and chef) explained to us the food items and helped us pick. Every dish was 10/10. We particularly loved the Ali Nazik, Dolma, and Baklava. Service was attentive and friendly. Thank you to Sona and Yasin for making us feel so welcome. This has been a great introduction for us to the Turkish cuisine. We will definitely be back.

We ordered Beyti, Ali Nazik, and Lamb Shish for the adults, and Manti for the kids. For starters, we had eggplant and capsicum dolma, along with cigar borek. The cigar borek was outstanding, perfectly crispy on the outside and gooey with melted cheese inside. Simply amazing. The dolma, on the other hand, was a bit dry and could use a touch more olive oil and pepper paste to bring out the flavour. The Beyti was beautifully presented and tasty, though it seemed the Adana kebab inside wasn’t charcoal-grilled; perhaps baked or cooked on a hot plate. It still had good flavour but lacked that smoky depth typical of a true grill. The Ali Nazik was divine, easily the highlight of the meal. I’d come back just for this dish. It’s rare to find authentic, non-kebab Turkish food in Sydney that’s both well-made and reasonably priced, and this place gets that balance right. Our waitress was lovely, and the service overall was warm and attentive. However, our second Ali Nazik arrived about 15 minutes later than the rest of the dishes, which meant we had to wait and ended up eating our mains a bit cold.

Coffee was good, Ben Mika uses Campos coffee. Kind and welcoming atmosphere. We both enjoyed our meals. We will definitely come back to try more Turkish style breakfast lunch. We ordered the chicken and lamb shish. Did not disappoint, felt feeling satisfied and plates cleaned.
